钙铬黄的主要成分是铬酸钙（CaCrO4)。外观呈柠檬黄色粉末，三氧化铬的理论含量为64.1%，实际产品的三氧化铬含量也接近60%。由于钙（Ca)的原子量仅为40.08,因此它是铬酸盐防锈颜料中三氧化铬含量最高一种。主要特点是水溶解度高，钙铬黄的水溶解度比其它品种高出甚多，再加高的三氧化铬含量，所以毒性较所有铬酸盐防锈颜料大。
Applications / Uses
用作分析试剂和氧化剂无机防锈颜料。在配制防锈漆后，因可以提供充分的铬酸根离子，钝化作用有所加强，防锈性能有所提高。不过由于水溶解度太大，引起漆膜抗水性下降，所在要发挥它的特长，要选用抗水性能良好的树脂作为基料。如以钙铬黄配制钙黄过氯乙烯底漆，钙黄氯化橡胶底漆、钙黄环氧酯底漆等。有些防锈底漆配方中也选用钙铬黄，也可以同锌铬黄、锶铬黄、钡铬黄等配合使用，以求得取长补短的效果。
